""Maine State GEAR UP Program
Creating a College-Going Culture in Maine

Have you checked out our new eBinder? It contains important information about the GEAR UP program that will be useful to Liaisons.

Liaisons
Liaisons

Role

Liaisons are responsible for coordinating GEAR UP student activities that assist students in their college goals. They monitor student academic progress and secure student support, including such activities as study skills, test-taking skills, and use of technology to enhance these activities. In addition, liaisons plan, coordinate and support activities designed to encourage active involvement of families. They are also responsible for district data collection and reporting.

The flexibility given to districts to guide their budgets has made the liaison role vary from school to school. Some schools have a part-time or full-time dedicated liaison, others increase the hours of an already existing guidance position, and others have a full-time liaison that covers multiple schools.
